Hi everyone,
Finally we are soaking in the much need summer sun which also means its time to protect our skin from environmental stressors and incorporate beauty products that work well during this hot, dry and rainy season. Well, at least for Calgary its a couple of days of hot-dry weather, followed by crazy winds, followed by what seems like torrential rains!! :D Its everything at the same time...more like the same week.
So I put together a slew of my favorites for this season and products I can't stop wearing because they work great for this weather. So here it goes...
I usually start with a sun screen at morning (sometimes, I would do a serum first) followed by my favorite La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation. It has SPF 25 but I feel it layers on perfectly over another sunscreen too. Its a non drying, extremely long wearing foundation that is completely transfer proof! It does not transfer even on black collars! My shade is Honey Beige and recently I received the new Skin Caviar cushion foundation from La Prairie, which makes it perfect for travel.
I still love my NARS creamy concealer for my face and undereye area. It does not conceal much but covers just enough to make me appear polished without looking cakey. Undereye area is always tricky and that is the reason why I go with lighter formulas for a subtle coverage, which is less 'transforming' - more me. I have learned to love myself and my imperfections and its okay to cover a little bit of dark circles and not completely camouflage under makeup. That sounds weird, right?
To add a radiant glow, I am loving the Chanel Tweed Blush in 130. It has very finely milled shimmer that shows up against the sunlight and adds a pinky glow to my cheeks.
Finally to set everything, I absolutely love the Givenchy Prism Libre loose powder in shade 1 which has four color correcting powders. I bake my undereye area with this, I apply it all over my face. It is an amazing product and it might be the reason why I go 'light' on foundation and concealer, because it color corrects everything!!
For Lips and Eyes
My eyes will always have sunglasses when I am out, so usually I wont put anything on them. The most I will do is a mascara and currently I am using the YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara that is okay in terms of volume and lengthening, but I have mixed feelings about the formula and performance. I also tried the Loreal Lash Paradise mascara and its a lovely product. Will share more on mascaras soon :)
I love glossy lips for summer time and I do not mind reapplying after every hour because it allows me to eat, talk and laugh as much as I like, without showing signs of pigment transfer to my food, teeth or anything else. My top picks would be the YSL Liquid Balm which hydrates and adds a punch of color. YSL Volupt Shine Oil in Stick for a super shiny, glossy look that lasts as much as a lipstick and Givenchy Vinyl Interdit Gloss in shade 1 which adds a little bit of pinky glow and a lot of shine to lips. I also like to layer on my NARS orgasm lipgloss and this mini size is always in my handbag to top on any lipstick to revive it from fading. For every day wear I can be seen with my all time favorite formula, the Dior Addict lip gloss in EverDior. Its a gorgeous coral shade with lots of shimmer. It looks great no matter what the time of the day and it has enough pigment to make my lips summer ready!!
