The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG for puffiness and dark circles - Review

Anything that reduces dark circles or help with the eye contour automatically grabs my attention. Every eye cream promises a smoother eye area and less noticeable dark circles but they don't always have their ingredients listed on the top of the bottle. The Ordinary products are named by concentration of its key ingredients and as a consumer that does not make any sense to me because I have limited knowledge about what ingredient concentration works for my skin condition and how can I incorporate those ingredients in to my skincare routine without irritating my skin or disrupting my skin's pH level. But then my social media went viral with The Ordinary products last month when they launched at Sephora Canada so I had to try something from this brand and an eye serum seemed like any easy product to use. The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG has rave reviews from my favorite bloggers so I had to get it before its out of stock, like any other The Ordinary products.
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG  promises to help reduce the appearance of puffiness and pigmentation in the eye contour. I have been using this for two weeks so I decided to share my thoughts on this with you guys today.
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG for puffiness and dark circles - Review

As a person with dry sensitive skin, that breaks out on the slightest mistreatment, I like to keep my skin routine to the simplest. Cleansing+toning+moisturizing at AM and PM and I use an acid peel once a week and seldom use a grainy exfoliating scrub all over my face. Also, I mask every 3 days - that does not sound simplistic at all!! :D But considering how many products I receive to try out, this routine has helped me keep my skin in check, so the number of products I use stays at the bare minimum for each step in my routine. I have noticed that combining moisturizers or serums do not work for me for most part and that is why I use them in moderation and with extreme caution. This is also a reason, why The Ordinary or any other Deceim product did not appeal to me. If I am unsure about the placement of the product in my regimen, I do not use it at all.

At CA$6.70 for a 30ml bottle of eye serum that is loved by everyone, its not too hard to buy one and see if it works. I have never come across an eye cream with 5% caffeine! I thought most eye creams had some concentration of caffeine because it tends to deflate the puffiness in the eye area but had never heard of EGCG! Its antioxidant from green tea which is another thing that I have DIYed for dark circles, so I assumed it should work. Having high hopes from the cheapest beauty product I have ever tried, I am pleased to announce that it WORKS!!

It reduces puffiness within 30 minutes and my dark circles look lightened. I have prominent veins under my eyes, that add to the darkness under my eyes and I know only a dermal filler would alleviate that but as a temporary fix, I am very happy with Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
The texture of this treatment is very serum like, but without silicones, oils, fragrance, gluten or nuts. Its vegan and cruelty free. It spreads nicely in the eye area and its supposed to be massaged in the under eye area AM and PM. I never had issues applying my concealer after the Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG  has been absorbed in to skin and dried. It keeps the eye area moisturized and I did not notice anything weird in my eye area -  no flakes, no residue. Its an easy to use product. I only use a drop for both eyes. The dropper only drops enough to cover both eyes and I feel this 30ml bottle will last me a year!

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG  helped me lighten my dark circles and reduces puffiness. Its an amazing product and at the low price point its totally worth a try.
