CHANEL NUDE LIPSTICKS - Rouge Allure Velvet in 69 Abstrait & Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle - Review with Swatches

Chanel lipsticks are my all time favorites, because they always look great, no matter how I wear them and they last me a full day and the color range is very wearable too. They fomula is buildable and I have worn my Rouge Cocos everywhere in the world and it never melts in high heat, nor disappear in the humid weather. It always stays perfectly on me. So I wanted to try the luminous matte formula of the new Rouge Allure Velvets in the limited edition matte packaging. I actually wanted to just get the newer ones, but I couldn't resist stocking up on my favorite Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle. I have repurchased this several times and also reviewed on my blog. Check out my review here

CHANEL ROUGE COCO in 434 Mademoiselle (C$46 for 3.5g)
Since I have shared about this twice on this blog already, here and here, I will keep this review as short as possible. The only thing I will say is that if I have been using a shade for over 4 years, then there must be something extraordinary about it. The formula is spot on. The shade is perfect for every day and night. It goes with every outfit and never looks like I am trying too hard. Its understated, luxurious, looks expensive and I love it.

CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE VELVET in 69 Abstrait (C$ 46 for 3.5g)
I came across this lipcolor when I was searching for a matte finish in nude shades on Chanel's website. I love how a matte lip appears but sometimes its too drying for my already dry and chapped lips! So a velvet finish that actually is a luminous matte from Chanel was a nice one to try. I ordered this shade online, completely relying on the swatches on the website and I am so happy with my purchase.
The shade Abstrait is one of the new shades for 2018 and comes in a matte packaging as opposed to the regular glossy black packaging.  It definitely looks a bit more chic and updated from the rest of the Rouge Allure Velvets. Chanel also released Rouge allure Velvet Extreme this year which is an all black and matte packaging with truly matte finish, however, the shade range is way to limited and I wasn't attracted to any of the shades, mainly because the nudes were too nudey and the darker shades were to vampy... I hope you get what I mean.
Just like the Rouge Allure packaging this pops up revealing a stunning golden tube. It has the Chanel logo embossed on the top in gold, which is soo luxurious!! <3

FORMULA & SWATCHES
ROUGE ALLURE VELVET in Abstrait appears like a reddish nude on me. Though the tube appears more pink than red, that is how it looks on me. Its a little bit brighter than my go to Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle, and if I layer it on, it can be a perfect shade for day or evening events. I am wearing it non stop and my only concern is longevity. While most Chanel lipsticks stay put throughout the day, I find the need to reapply this one, especially because the matte formula seems to sink in to my lips..looking like a light wash of color after a couple of hours. And since my lips are already dry, it tends to accentuate the lines on my lips, which is not the look I want to go for everyday. May be its the weather that sucks moisture out of my skin and lips, or maybe the formula, but this definitely is something I would always carry in my purse, because I know I will reapply. And I don't mind that, because this packaging is way too cute to stay home!!

Overall, I love Chanel lipsticks and I would want everyone to try these. Do you like Chanel lipsticks? Let me know xx

  1. Oh.. I came across your post a little late! lol I was just contemplating buying one of these at a Chanel counter today, and I went with the Abstrait one. I wanted something a little bit matt as I just bought one Chanel tinted lip balm recently. And you're so spot on about after some time, I was quite confused how it could dry out my lips that fast. I am also one with cracked lips, so I kinda hoped that this one didn't dry out my lips as much as it does. Overall, I love the color and the packaging, and I found applying it over another Chanel lip balm makes the final color appears better on my lips: they aren't too cracked.
