Motives Shape & Sculpt Duo Review and Swatches

I love highlighting my face, however, I usually don't contour on a regular basis because I feel it can look unnatural and can be time consuming for regular basis. I just sweep a powder highlighter on my brow bone, cheek bones and I am done. I rarely even highlight my nose! But on special occasions, I NEVER miss out on this important technique that not only guarantees best photographs but also makes me look so much better in person.
This is the first highlight and contour palette that I own and I am so happy to share that the highlight and contour shades are very appropriate for my skin tone. It convinced me that contouring is so much easier if you have the right shade for your skin tone and the right texture, that would  make blending effortless.
This Shape and Sculpt Duo from Motives by Loren Ridinger ($22) is an awesome addition to makeup bag. Lets find out more...

SWATCH

MY EXPERIENCE

As you can see from the swatch above that the contour shade is one or two shades deeper than my skin tone. That is what made this contour powder work for my skin tone. Its not too dark, nor too light. Moreover, its a perfectly brown shade but has a satin finish due to very fine golden shimmer in it. I like that its it not orange or too dark. It makes a great shade for contouring the hollows of my cheek bones, the sides of my nose and the temples. I often use this on the crease of my eye for a perfectly contoured look.

The highlight shade has a slight pinkish hue to it, that could mean a ashy cast for my warm complexion, however, this highlight shade is very sheer and is almost unrecognizable, but does a great job in bringing out the contours of my face. I sweep it on the bridge of my nose, the upper cheek bones, brow bone and the center of my forehead. This highlighting powder is quite matte, so it never makes me look like shimmer city and it is also quite day time appropriate. For night time, or special occasions, I like to go with something more intense and with more shimmer. This too has a satin finish, leaning more towards matte.

Where ever, I go, I always pack this Shape& Sculpt Duo as the packaging is very sturdy and palettes are always better to pack than individual items. I seldom feel that the neutral palettes I have, miss out on a matte brown or a matte highlight shade and this palette always comes in handy. I am quite happy to have this in my collection
