Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Tawny 3W1 Review and Swatches

I am a huge fan of sheer, luminous foundation formulas, so committing to a full 30ml bottle of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation was difficult. I was looking for something that would stay fresh all day long no matter what the weather looks like. Its so unpredictable! I honestly feel half of my day is spent talking about the weather and how I woke up to 8°C and at lunch hour it was 23°C and its expected to touch 28°C! Like, seriously?!
So, my skin is acting weird because its so hot one day and then rain showers the next followed by smoke and spells of dryness. I also got a lot of tan on my nose bridge and forehead so, my foundations were not really helping me. I thought about a BB cream but most of them get oily half way through the day. My sister recommended the Double Wear  Foundation to me because it never gets oily, nor does it transfer! And seriously, that is 100% true! Its probably the best foundation for oily skin because it stays put perfectly all day long. And after trying a sample, I was sold! Here is a full review and swatch of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Tawny 3W1.

Tawny is described as a tanned beige with warm undertones. Its a nice match to my skin tone, however when I apply a second layer it shows up as a more neutral beige.
Here are some comparisons of Tawny 3W1 with some of the other foundations. I also picked up a darker shade called Honey Bronze 4W1 because it looked warm enough for my skin tone, but its a bit too orange/golden. I currently use Chanel Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Foundation in 30 and its an excellent match to my skin tone, however, its not the best foundation to wear on hot, humid days. For evenings, I love using MUFE Ultra HD Foundation in Y345 and its a nice medium to full coverage foundation, however, it does not photograph as beautifully as the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.
I was also matched with Laura Mercier's Flawless Fusion Ultra Long Wear Foundation in Linen 2N2 at Sephora last week and I had that sample to share with you. While comparing it side by side, it looks way too orange/pink for my skin tone. I completely disregarded Laura Mercier's foundation because it broke me out very badly. Even when I swatched it on my arm for this photograph, it was itchy, so there is something in this formula that my skin completely detests.

This full coverage foundation by Estee Lauder lives up to expectations and after using it for week, I am totally in love with how beautiful it looks in pictures and how it completely covers all imperfections. It does not oxidise or change color in any way. It can be layered on, but that look is too cakey for me. I like to mix it with my moisturizer for everyday use and it stays put all day long! It does not transfer to clothing nor does it get oily. Its stays dry to touch and I love that it sets pretty quickly. So far, I haven't used a setting powder with this and it looks perfect. It never feels heavy even when I layered it on heavily. Its the perfect special occasion foundation - when you know you will be photographed or you just want to look flawless. Its lasts the whole day on me and it never broke me out. Its pretty much the most perfect foundation ever and its a best seller at Sephora for that reason.
My only concern would be the cake face, I can get if I use it a little carelessly. One layer of foundation is enough for me but if I go for a second one, it looks too over the top for me. Still, I love this formula and I haven't stopped using it from the day I got it.
If you are looking for a special occasion foundation this just might be it. It looks great in photographs and it stays fresh all day.
