Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off Mascara - Review and Swatch

My first ever mascara was from Rimmel and I take some pride in sharing that I still like Rimmel mascaras the most, among main stream mascara brands, for two reasons: 1. I am usually able to get the results I want and 2. they are so affordable that I can never go wrong picking up one :)

Today's review is about Rimmel's Scandaleyes Show off Mascara that has an innovative wand with tiny spinks and a ball at the tip to lift and curl lashes. It has pros and cons, but I realized I used this a lot recently and I am gonna tell you why in a bit!

SWATCHES
As you can see in the picture below it gives a really nice curl to my lashes (oh yea,I did use a lash curler before hand...) It does add to the volume and also lengthens. The application is pretty much clump free but its a different story on my second eye.

So on my left eye, the formula looks terrible. There are clumps, flakiness and lesser volume.

The answer to this dilemma would be that, this mascara is tricky to apply. If you have the time to look closely at your lashes and apply gently to cover each lash, then there is nothing better than this one. But if you are in a rush or your toddler starts pulling you to get the attention, that you have been giving to your makeup, then most likely, you can end up with the results similar to eye in picture 2.

THE WAND
I particularly love this wand that mimics high end mascaras. Its great for upper and lower lashes. I really like how the spiky ball tip, can remove clumps and give a nice curl to each lash. The tiny spikes all over the wand result in clump free application.

MY EXPERIENCE

Starting with the formula, I would say, its pretty dry compared to other Rimmel mascaras. It dries off on lashes pretty quickly and results in "plush" lashes that appear fluttery - full of life and volume. Since, the formula is dry, you may have to apply at least three coats to get the desired length and volume; I have long lashes so I needed to apply 4 coats for the swatches above. (One coat = dipping the wand in the tube once and applying). Its definitely not a one coater, nor the kind of mascara you can apply in a rush. I need to look closely in the mirror when applying this to reach out to all my lashes, esp the corner ones.

What I absolutely like about this is the fact that it gives me naturally long and fuller looking lashes. No more spidery lashes with this one, thanks to the dry formula. On a contrary, the wet mascaras often tend to make my lashes feel big but hard and stiff like straw.

Its also easy to remove. This one night, I was too lazy to use eye makeup remover and I just washed it off with my facewash and it removed most of the mascara. At least I did not see any mascara flakes around my eyes the next morning.

Overall, I would say, its not a bad deal, especially if you can spare some extra time doing your mascara. And oh yes! it lasts all day!!

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Do let me know if you like this kind of mascaras!!

  8. I am loving the wand tooo... i had one of the Rimmel mascaras i don't like 2 things about it
    1. If won't apply calmly it gets messy.
    2. It makes eye lashes dry.
but i think over all Rimmel London Mascaras are good to try for glamourous look.

    nice review though..
